North Texas has their share with places to find fried chicken. So, what makes this famous Aggie land chicken joint so special? Layne’s Chicken Fingers has expanded northward from their original home in College Station to three locations in DFW, Allen, Lewisville, and Frisco.
In 1994, two years before Raising Canes opened their doors, Mike Layne opened the doors of the original Layne’s Chicken Fingers in College Station. Mike is a homegrown Texan who believes in wonderful customer service.
Laynes is a fun and unexpected place. Their hours of operation are original and different from anywhere elseTheir hours are set from 10:07a – 9:54p, they have multiple clocks on the wall displaying the time at other Layne’s locations, and even owner Mike Mom’s house. Every location is in the same time zone, so all the clocks have the same time. The idea is not necessary, but it is fun and a conversation starter. There is a very hometown feel to Laynes. You will find support for local High School teams, and their mascots on the walls. The chicken is reminiscence of the large chicken baskets of your childhood. The Texas toast is nothing but perfectly toasted and the perfect amount of butter. If crinkle-cut fries are not your thing, there is also potato salad.
When you stop by Layne’s, be sure to order some extra Layne’s sauce–everyone’s doing it. It is the most ordered item on the menu. This 23-ingredient sauce is AMAZING!!!
If you are searching for a healthy option, then Layne’s is still your favorite new place! I absolutely love the healthy chicken options available at Laynes. Try the grilled chicken wrap with Balsamic Vinaigrette.
No matter who you are, you WILL feel welcomed within this chicken joint.
