Let’s go outside and enjoy this prized treasure of North Texas!
Arbor Hills Nature Preserve provides over 6 miles of paved and off trail that loop through a 200-acre wooded nature preserve. Ride your bike, walk, jog, hike, rollerblade, or sightsee in this gorgeous untouched land. This Nature Preserve offers access to a large variety of unpaved hiking and mountain biking trails.
There is something for everyone here. You can see bottomland forest and native prairie. If you take the loop hike, you can access a tributary to Indian Creek which is a very pretty, clear creek in wooded bottomland forest. It’s a great spot to hang out and let little one’s explore. This is the best hiking area for those in the northern parts of our Dallas Metroplex. This nature preserve is dog friendly on the paved trails only.
This suburban forest has lush acres of Blackland Prairie terrain. There are several small creeks, twists, and turns that make you feel like you’re in another country, not one of the most popular suburbs in Texas. The trail and sight-seeing here are great, and if you’re lucky, you might even spot a bobcat, fox, turtle, rabbit, snake, or owl in its natural habitat.
If your brood is a biking bunch, pedal over to the off-road cycling trails in the southern part of the preserve. Before you leave, be sure to visit the Observation Tower, the view is breathtaking!
