This time of year is still perfect for enjoying outdoor dining in Texas. Especially when you get to enjoy your meal in an outdoor garden where the herbs and vegetables of your meal have been locally grown and the eggs are hatched onsite. Talk about a farm-to-table experience! Im referring to the serene atmospheres Garden Cafe.
Located in the historic Junius Heights area of Old East Dallas you will find this gem nestled amongst residential spaces in a cute neighborhood. Upon arrival I was so happy I had made a reservation as there was already a line before they even opened. We were greeted by the friendly hostess who had us seated immediately on their beautiful patio area. Since it was a little chilly first thing in the morning they did have their heaters running so that we were comfortable in our surroundings.
It was hard to decide what to order from their menu, so we all got something different so we could try a lot. My friends went for a savory build your own omelette that came complete with a side of choice and their huge pancakes. While another friend wanted something more seasonal with their sweet and warm sweet potato pancakes with blueberry compote. I had to try their farm fresh eggs with a traditional eggs Benedict and crispy house hash browns. Everything on the menu we tried was absolutely amazing and I couldn’t believe I hadn’t been here sooner.
After speaking with our waitress, we learned that they had just recently reopened after a long temporary closure due to COVID. While they had their doors closed for some time they did reopen with the same great tasting food their fans have grown to love and added some improvements such as serving beer & wine and a new dinner service. Everything about our experience was truly amazing and I can’t wait to head back to try their dinner menu.
