Oishii – SMU Blvd – Todays DFW

Looking for your next date night spot? Then a visit to Oishii for delicious sushi and an incredible atmosphere should be on your list. This Dallas institution recently opened their SMU Blvd location and is serving up tasty handmade rolls.

We decided to check them out when looking for fresh fresh. Since we went on a Friday night, the restaurant was busy with other couples and families with the same idea. Luckily we had made a reservation in advance and we’re seated at the bar immediately. This helped add to our experience because we got to see the rolls being made fresh right in front of our eyes. It was a cozy atmosphere that was perfect for a date night, but I would recommend a table if you were going with a larger group. I also recommend arriving early as their parking lot fills up fast, but there is plenty of street parking and a garage right across the street.

Since we had visited their other location in the past we didn’t need much time to look over their menu. Though as a newbie their offerings may be intimidating because there’s so many options, but whatever you pick you are sure to love. Our waitress was quick to grab our order and bring us waters to enjoy as we waited. While we didn’t partake in drinking they do have a full service bar with fun cocktail, sake, beer and wine. They also offer great stir fry’s and other protein options for those not looking to enjoy sushi.

For our dinner we choose 4 different rolls to share. They each had 8-10 pieces which offered plenty to share amongst two people. From what we picked our favorites were the Poke Roll that included no rice but packed with flavor from the Serrano pepper, pineapple, avocado, spicy tuna and shrimp. We also enjoyed the Royce Roll that had a unique flavor from the truffle oil, crabmeat mix, yellowtail and tart lemon slice. Whatever you choose you are sure to love as everything tasted amazing.

This experience was absolutely amazing. Everything from the kind service to the tasty dishes were one to remember. Being a favorite restaurant of mine I would highly recommend this spot to anyone and know I will be heading back soon.
