Whistle Britches – Southlake

If you are in the mood for the perfect crispy fried chicken then do I have the place for you! This delicious restaurant was featured on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives and is famous for their fried chicken dishes. After my recent visit there, I can say this famous spot lives up to its reputation.

While I have been to the Dallas location where the episode was filmed, I wanted to try out the Southlake location. This spot is conveniently located off Main St amongst several other restaurants and shopping stores. It’s a great spot to spend the entire day this holiday season and has ample parking options from open lots to parking garages and even coveted street parking. Upon arriving to this southern comfort restaurant you will find both indoor seating and a great patio that is perfect for warmer days.

Since it was cooler on our visit we opted to sit inside and enjoyed the comfortable atmosphere. While we had been before we took some time to look over their menu and enjoy our time together. We finally decided and our waitress was quick to put in our order. To start off our meal we grabbed their fried green tomatoes atmosphere. The tomatoes were perfectly crispy and had a great sweet and sour flavor. They had a touch of spice from their creamy comeback sauce and was a great way to start the meal.

For my main meal I enjoyed the Hot Dang which came with crispy Nashville style hot chicken on toasted white bread with a cool dill ranch sauce and their homemade bread n butter pickles. The chicken was the right amount of spice and tasted great with my side of chips. My friend enjoyed one of their sandwiches called the Yankee that had a huge piece of chicken in buffalo sauce cooled down with their dill ranch sauce, cabbage slaw, pickles and a fluffy brioche bun. Both meals were so filling on their own, but we added a side of three cheese mac that was topped with crispy panko bread crumbs.

I couldn’t decide what my favorite part of the meal was! It definitely left me in a food coma and will be a restaurant I always recommend to friends and family.
